Copyrights and Wrongs

One fundamental rule in all YOBI Contests is that contest entries may not contain any images, sounds, music, or other material that you either do not own or do not have permission to use. Although it might sound like severely limiting, this rule is ultimately for your protection.

We recommend that you take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the differences between Public Domain, Royalty Free, and Copyrighted materials. You are indeed free to use Copyrighted materials in your contest entries, as long as you have permission from the copyright holder to use them. Because in many cases it may be difficult to obtain this permission, we provide links to a few sites that contain Public Domain and Royalty Free materials on our Useful Links page.

* Please note: Just because material is public domain or royalty-free does not mean that it will be available at no cost. Likewise, just because material is available at no cost does not mean that it is public domain or royalty-free.
