YOBIFilm Season 1 Winner Paul Kurti checks in again from Paris, France to discuss the cinematic highlights of the Ponts des Arts bridge and the artistic significance of the Shakespeare and Company Bookshop.
Hello everybody, this is Paul! I’m gonna continue talking a bit more about Paris and some of its interesting locations and other curiosities. This is the bridge Pont des Arts - it’s a fully pedestrian bridge and at night time it gets filled with young people who just come here and chill, have a picnic, drink some wine and just sit on it watching Paris. In terms of cinema, in the famous French film Amelie this is where Amelie decides that she wants to do good in the world and basically make everybody happy. Also in the film the Bourne Identity, in the last scene Jason Bourne disappears on this bridge. I think also the final scene in Sex and the City was shot here, but I didn’t really care much about that one. This place is called the Shakespeare bookstore and the interesting thing about this is that all the people serving you that are selling here are starving artists. They are aspiring writers who live and write books or screenplays in the upper floors, and during the day they work in the bookstore, so it’s an interesting thing to know about the length that people can go to when they think that a place really inspires their work. Next I’m traveling to Germany where I’ve been invited to be a Director of Photography for a short film that will be shot at the Black Forest. So next time I’ll bring you back some more interesting footage about that experience. Until then, continue making short films, submit them YOBI.tv, and have a great rest of the summer. Bye!
