Beside Myself
ShaeBaeBae
Oscar Aguilar lost his fiance Allison Meron to an apparent suicide. Oscar can't come to terms with this because he knew his wife like the back of his hand and he knew that she wasn't suicidal. Clarissa, Allison's younger sister, is trying to explain to Oscar that he needs to stop trying to solve a murder that didn't happen. Oscar knows that something is up, and he wants to know who... or what... killed Allison.
SPOILER ALERT:
In case you don't understand, the Demon in this movie is what we call a suicide demon. Bacically his job is to drive people insane and kill them himself and make it look like a suicide. All of the enhabitants of the house slowly become paranoid and anxious until they come face to face with the demon. However, to everyone else it looks like suicide.
PRODUCTION PLAN FROM START TO FINISH. PRE PRODUCTION: It took a few months to get a clear concept of this story. It took 2 weeks to write a script. 2 days to find actors. PRODUCTION: It took 3 days to film, day 3 involved 4 hours of special effects makeup which was applied to our actress Alex Kight-Buckley. POST PRODUCTION: It took one week to edit all of the footage down into a shorter verison and a longer version.
ABOUT THE SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP:
We started the process at about 12:00 and ended around 4:30 (we needed the set to be completely dark so we took advantage of the amount of time we had until night fall :p) We started with a gargoyle makeup prosthetic. I cut it into pieces (a bottom piece and an upper piece.) I secured Alex's hair back and away from her face and applied the two pieces, having to stuff areas with toilet paper due to the fact that the mask was large and her face was tiny. I added the toilet paper in places where it needed to look like the bones of the demon would be pertruding outwards. then We started makeup application on Alex's arm which we see after Derek hears the floor creaking when Carrrisa leaves. I started first with applying the nails. Derek, Alex and I made the nails on the fourth of July (the day before film day #1 we did this application on film day #3 :P) We purchase regular acrylic nails and filed them down into sharp and cracked edges. Once applied I coated them with yellow and brown shades with some black around the nail bed and put a small amount of blood underneath where the nails had lifted. Then Derek and I bth applied a home made mixture of flour and water to Alex's arms, keeping it uneven and bumpy to create than non-human, almost reptile-ish skin. We then let that dry and began coloring the mask by adding shades of blues, subtle blacks, and greys, and some purple. By then, the arms were dry so we used the same colors on the arm makeup. Then to finish off the look, we added a light coat of baby oil to the mask to give it that sweaty, greasy look. then it hit me... I forgot wardrobe for the demon! :O So thinking quickly, i remembered that in my room I have black curtains... so I took them down, cut them to fit Alexs body and voila! Demon Robe! (even though you NEVER see it in the film, it was good to have just in case :P)
