I have no idea why the clean guitar sounds so shitty on here. This is an original song of mine. Wait 'til it goes all badass in the last minute and a half or so ;) . I am every member of the band (lol). The girl with the ukulele is a friend of mine, Abena, with whom I occasionally jam.
This house has never seemed so cold
You took the warmth, you took my soul
I’m thinking things I know I can’t confess
But talking shit, and getting it off my chest
Is it something too subservient in my nature?
Well I hope I get the chance to speak up
You need me there, I’m told
Well babe, I need you, please come home
Trashing letters that I meant to mail to you
Ran out of stamps, I’ll find any old excuse
To intervene in accepting all those miles that separate us
So I’m headed for denial
‘Cause I’m scared, and I know we’re unprepared
If I stumble, will you catch me? Do you dare?
If you don’t, I won’t feel betrayed
It’s just a trait of the trade we play
‘Cause I’m stuck, and I cannot come down
With one or two more weeks before I finally crack
I’m running, but my feet can’t touch the ground
If I’m wrong, well I’m just too stressed out to even care
‘Cause with your gaping, empty void
Your pillow’s cold, but I need you around
In the morning when I wake up and I forget
In the morning when I yawn, arch back, and stretch
I get up, spot your picture on the wall
Every time I do, it hurts a little more
Is it something too subservient in my nature?
Well, I hope I get the chance to speak up
You need me there, I’m told
Well I still need you, please come home
