First I want to say a big THANK YOU to all my supporters. I obviously would not have made it this far without your help, and I hope we aren't done yet. :)
So as you may know or may have already guessed "See how it shines for you" has made it to round two of the finals. I am beyond excited to have made it this far and hope to make it all the way to Detroit. Art has been a passion of mine since I was a little bitty girl. I have been drawing and taking pictures for as long as I can remember. However; I had always been to shy or maybe insecure to show many people my stuff, until about a year. That's when I decided I really wanted to show the world how I express myself best. I can't imagine what life would be like without a camera or pencil and paper.
What really changed my mind about sharing my work with others was an article I read in school during on of my psychology classes that was about how many hours of a person's life is spent on work, talking about work, and/or thinking about work verses the amount of time spent on making themselves happy, being with friends and family, and well just living life for them. Then I got to thinking about something my husband's boss had said to him a couple years prior when a very dear friend of ours died and we needed to go back home to Iowa for the services. He said to my husband, "I can't promise you won’t get an occurrence for missing work, but I have chosen work way to long over my personal life and that is no way to live. So you go back to Iowa and don't worry about work." I want to remind people with art to slow down and appreciate life and what they have and what it around them. Basically I can sum it all up by saying I want people to remember to stop and breathe. We all rush through life so fast without really seeing what is surrounding us. I also think people have begun to take art for granted and have started to almost forget about it. Art is my escape from reality, and I want to be able to share that with others. If one of my photos can make a person smile then I have made progress because they had to stop and look at it really look at.
So again thank y’all so much I cannot express how much all the amazing support I have received means to me. But I am truly grateful for every bit of it. Much love to you all!!
