In The Miami Sky by ChaseBaker

My name is Chase Baker. I am a twenty year old student. I did not pick up photography until about a year ago, when I spontaneously decided to buy a nice camera. I spent my high school graduation money on a Canon Rebel T1i. I told myself that I would sell the camera if I did not find a way to make the money back that I spent on the camera. So far I have not had much luck. I recently got a job working at the campus newspaper as a Photojournalist, and I am hoping that this will be a way to justify buying my camera.

I took this photo while on vacation on Spring Break with my family. I had never traveled out of the country so it was really a great experience to take a cruise to Jamaica, and this photo was snapped as we pulled back into the harbor in Miami, Florida. I was taking pictures of the cityscape when all of a sudden a bird flew across and the timing ended up perfectly.

I started out shooting for fun, but am beginning to realize that I want to do more than that. Winning this contest would be the break I need, and would open the doors to taking this passion to the next level--something that would be amazing for me especially since I live on a farm. Living out in the middle of nowhere makes it a bit difficult to generate business, so I'm really grateful for contests like this offered by yobi.tv.
