Papa

I've never really had to write up an explanation for a photograph I've taken before, but I like to think that "Papa" shows a side of mystery. I don't know a ton about my grandfather, and with each generation people learn less and less about those who came before them. My mom and her sister knew him as "Jim" growing up, and found out later, when they were in their late 30s or so, that his name was really Vinchenzo. There are sides to my grandfather I will never know or see. He's always been kind and loving to me, ever since I was a baby, but even if I ask what he was like when he was younger, I won't really know him or see him. Photographs can capture other sides to people, moments in time that don't appear significant, but are daily parts of a person's life. This is my grandpa either getting up from, or sitting down in his chair to watch t.v. When we visit him, watching football with my dad is something he really enjoys doing. He doesn't do that much, and his chair is just an ordinary part of his life. Something captured that defines how I know him now, and how I'll always remember him, while leaving an edge of mystery to the person he once was. I feel like no matter how I try to write this, it'll come out corny or cliched or something, so this will conclude my description.
