Lyrics:
There was a slam, a scream a cry of exhaustion
a cold glass of water poured onto his head
he could not believe that he had been shut down
thats she would run around, behind his back
and the world could see the pain in his eyes
the pain as he tried to figure it out
she'd left she'd gone, she'd walked through the door
their love was no more, oh what a shame!
she walked through the door tears streaming down her face
he pushed her to the floor and they started to race
a battle of passion took place on the street
all who saw could not draw their eyes from the scene
what to do what to say? so they swung and they swayed
to the song that we've named=the great escape
there was a punch a throw a tangle of bodies
he knew she was moving to make her escape
so he grabbed an arm, tight grip round her wrist
that once he had kissed, now the tables have turned
she walked to the door now with courage on her face
he pushed her to the floor and they started to race
a battle of passion took place on the street
all who saw could not draw their eyes from the scene
what to do what to say? so they swung and they swayed
to the song that we've named=the great escape
now there's no slam, no scream no cry of exhaustion
a cold glass of water stood sitill on the shelf
she could not believe that she was so safe now
she still couldn't see how, she'd found herself
in this whole new life, with love and affection
a simple perfection, all thanks to him
who had come and swept this girl off her feet, so gentle and sweet
and so they lived... happily ever after
happily ever after.....
