Innocence- An Original Song
Holley217
i wrote this song in memory of my sister, Rachael, who committed suicide on April 13, 2011.
love you baby girl, you'll always be in my heart <3
I’m five years old again
And I walk across the street
Buy some of that sweet lemonade
To shield me from the heat
And now we’re running through the sprinkler
The water cascading down my back
And then you spray me with the hose
I laugh as I run from your attack
You are the essence of spring
The dew on my window
The sweet sound of laughter ringing, ringing
You are the smile that spreads
Across that little girl’s face
As she blows her first bubble and watches it
As it floats up, up, up and away
Please show me you are here
Let your laugh fill up my room
Go back to when we still held hands
In the dark to fight back fears
And now please watch over me
Be my voice when I can’t speak
Let’s stay up late just one last time
And sing till we fall asleep
You are the essence of spring
The dew on my window
The sweet sound of laughter ringing, ringing
You are the smile that spreads
Across that little girl’s face
As she blows her first bubble and watches it
As it floats up, up, up and away
The wind softly blowing through my hair
You are every last freckle
Tiny dots of imperfection
Yet so genuine
You are a tear running down a cheek
You are a girl so nervous she cannot speak
You are a boy who reaches for his girl’s hand
You are innocence
