Neighborhood Dog
NezziBug
I wrote this song when I was thinking about the Christian Music Camp I went to last summer, remembering the unforgettable people I met... I guess this song is just to describe the fact that all anybody ever wants is to be remembered.
"And when you sit on that slippery seat cover, remember, remember who I was"
No matter what you do or where you go, whether you're a barefoot forest-dweller or sitting on a slippery seat cover in an uptight mansion, remember who you love and what they did for you.
*sorry for any little messups, I was really nervous when I recorded this...
Lyrics:
Verse One
How many days will it take you to
get the stain out of your shirt and wonder if you're worth it
How many blinks will you blink
before you recognize the rocks you've tripped over before
How many nails will you chip over useless matters
Chorus
And when you sit on that slippery seat cover
remember, remember who I was
And my thoughts still linger right after that winter
when I thought I saw you by the pond
but it was just the neighborhood dog
Verse Two
How many times will the words you say
completely contradict how you really feel
How many weeks can you actually say
when you smile, you smile for real
How many thoughts have you had in your head
that it all ended up like in a book I read
(Chorus)
Verse Three
How many risks do you have to take
to feel like you've done something right
How many faces do you have to fake
to start your pointless fights
How many songs do I have to sing
for you to catch my drift
(Chorus; leave off "dog" at the end)
Bridge
I'm fighting the words cuz I can't seem to rhyme them
I lost my regrets and I don't want to find them
And do I keep rambling all of these rambles
I walked an old road and got caught in the brambles
and the neighborhood dog laughed at me
(Chorus)
