Learning to Love - Amy MacClain Original
AmyMacClain
We've all been there - wondering what people think of us, at least some part of us wanting to fit in, be liked, make an impression. Sometimes it feels fine and we blaze along, sometimes it hurts, and sometimes, we just want OUT! This song is about longing, fear, and the fragile nature of human relationships. Check outu a better version of it on my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/amymacclain - it's in my favorites, a iittle piece done by a friend. Enjoy...
LEARNING TO LOVE
Have you noticed my resistance from across a crowded room?
I got a ten foot sword and it walks in front of me
Keeping me safe from the likes of you
Have you noticed my armor, yeah it’s shiny and bright, well worn from use
Seems like I’ve had it forever and it’s served me well, It’s the only thing that’s been true
And there ain’t nothing you can do
Have you noticed my pension for standing close to the door?
Sometimes it’s hard to catch my gaze while I am staring at the floor
And I’ve been trying to look up, yeah I been taking all this in
But sometimes it’s hard to be myself when I can’t stay inside my skin
And there ain’t nothing you can do, no try as you might, there ain’t nothing you can do
Cuz I’m learning to love… I’m learning to love
Do you get the enormity of the risk of just standing here
Do you get the courage it takes to not disappear
I am trying to let this out but the seizures are more than I can stand
I nearly choke to death on my own words and then it’s back to the dance
And there ain’t nothing you can do No try as you might, there ain’t nothing you can do
Cuz I’m learning to love… I’m learning to love
