American Summer (Original Song by Emily Fralick)
thursday1016
Here's a new one; I wrote the bulk of it this past summer while actually out in the middle of Nolin Lake, but I only just got around to recording. I hope it takes you away from the nasty winter weather for a few minutes!!
Lyrics:
New day in the sun, running on fumes
Run? I will run if need be…all the way to your door
We’ll grab a bite wherever you choose
And I will crack the window as you push the pedal down to the floor
And on the radio, loud and clear, coming through
They’re playing our favorite tune
And it’s hot this June like you would not believe
Though winter can claim your health
You can find yourself in the American summer heat
The horizon is hot, our backs to the east
Play? I will play my guitar; I’ll write something for you
We’ll take a drive, do whatever you please
And I will crack the window, set your eyes all ablaze by the moon
And on the radio, loud and clear, just for you
They’re playing our favorite tune
And it’s hot this June like you would not believe
Though winter can claim your health
You can find yourself in the American summer heat
You’re singing your favorite words
And your voice reverberates and sets me free
Though winter turns our skin tough
There’s a lot to love in the American summer heat
They’re playing our favorite tune
And it’s hot this June like you would not believe
Though winter can hurt like hell
I become myself when my back sticks to the seat
You’re humming your favorite verse,
And your voice reverberates and sets me free
Though winter turns our skin tough,
There’s a lot to love in the American summer heat
(Restless, tired, it’s cold enough;
It’s no wonder we can’t fall in love)
They’re playing our favorite tune
And it’s hot this June like you would not believe
Though winter can claim your health
You can find yourself in the American summer heat
You’re singing your favorite line
And your eyes meet mine, one smile and I am free
Though winter turns our skin tough
You can fall in love in the American summer heat
(Restless, tired, it’s cold enough
It’s no wonder we can’t fall in love
Restless, tired, it’s cold enough
Can we fall in love?)
