YOBISing Season 2
Week 32 Semifinalist

All I know is that whatever I set out to do, I hope it changes the world for the better. I strive to write music that uplifts people, creates unity, and helps us see the good in others and ultimately, love ourselves more. I think that each day, each moment, each action, can be extremely meaningful if whatever we're doing, we're doing mindfully and with love.

I play my guitar and write songs as much as I can. As I find myself immersed in my daily goings-on, the whispers of songs penetrate my mind. I have so many ideas and really just hope to find the discipline to write and create more.

Musically, I'm influenced by the relationships around me, my family, my job, other musicians. I love the melodies of Melody Gardot, Zee Avi, the lyrics and soul of India Arie, Tristan Prettyman's rawness and humility, and I enjoy JayMay's willy-nilly whimsy. And I love how children can create songs on the spot with anything they're doing. That to me is pure genius!

Professionally, I'm inspired by the students I work with everyday at the high school. Their courage, bravery, stories, their heart, their resilience. And teaching guitar is the nectar for my soul. Each time I meet with my students I create a silly song about what they're wearing, their habits as a learner, what I admire about them, anything really that I notice and make it fun.

Thanks for listening and reading. All of this is part of a journey. To me, it's not about perfection, just growth.

Description

Thank you so much for your support! Singing is my dream and all of you who vote for me are a big part of it. Thank you! THANK YOU!
So, I wrote this song for my parents. It's a tribute to the home they created and the love they give so generously. I tend to write songs to the ones I love.Humbly,Jen Pastalo
